
Members of the Volunteer Bicycle Patrol (VBP), one of five patrol groups in the Volunteer Trail Safety Patrol of the East Bay Regional Park District, ride District trails on their bikes. Though VBP members have the same responsibilities as do the members of the other patrol groups, a special interest is to meet other District visitors on bicycles, to provide them with education and safety advice, and to encourage them to follow District rules governing bicycle use on District lands. You can most easily recognize us while we are riding the trails by our jerseys' yellow sleeves and dark blue public safety shoulder patches. If we're sitting or standing rather than riding, you'll see "Bike Patrol" on the fronts and backs of the jerseys. Like all Volunteer Trail Safety Patrol members, we carry District ID cards.
The Volunteer Bicycle Patrol has been supporting the East Bay Regional Park District from within the District's Police Department since 1989.
